Gatlinburg Vacation Part 1 of 5 Snow

For the second year in a row, we have gone to Gatlinburg on vacation with my family the week after Christmas and we have looked forward to it for months!  Instead of doing gifts for each other, we just go on vacation together and it gives us something to look forward to after the craziness of the holidays.

Instead of doing pics by days I will be doing several posts with the pictures according to category so warning....lots of pics coming!

But THIS year we got a special treat...it SNOWED a foot before we got there.  It actually started the day before we got there and had finished by the time we arrived but we got to enjoy the beauty of it!  It was SUPER COLD, like in the teens, the first few days and roads were icy.  But it sure was GORGEOUS!

This year we rented a cabin on a mountain and when we got to the office to check in, they told us there was NO WAY we could get to our cabin.  It was high up a mountain, roads were steep and icy, and they told us they would not attempt it with kids.  I was a NERVOUS WRECK!  Seriously I think it was one of the 3 scariest moments of my life.  We took a wrong turn and were going down very steep, curvy mountains with ice everywhere and even got to a place in the road where the road was solid ice and we had to turn around.  There were people parked on the road and walking to their destination along with many cars off in the ditch.  I even saw several cars with chains on their tires and still slipping and sliding all over the ice.  I seriously about lost my lunch multiple times!

SO the first night we had to get a hotel and I had NEVER been so happy to get out of the car!  We let the kids play in the snow a little bit but the temps were in the teens so we didn't stay out too long.  They loved eating it of course!

We went on a walk down the main street in Gatlinburg...

Karis made this snow angel for Nonnie!  Nonnie told her if she made her a snow angel she would put it on her profile picture on facebook.  Yes, Karis told me that and now Nonnie you got to follow your end of the bargain because she will be looking haha!

Lucy didn't like being sat in the snow that first time!

It was so gorgeous and we even got to sled a few times!  (That post coming soon!)
