Brayden's 6th birthday

Happy 6th Birthday to my favorite little man!

Despite the late night with his buddies last night, he woke up excited and ready for his birthday. We let him go ahead and open his gift, knowing that is what he wanted to do ha!

He was very excited to get his very own IPOD Touch.  Now he can take his games on the go like his sister does.

I asked him what his request was for breakfast on his birthday and he quickly replied, "I want a heart waffle."  I had made them red heart pancakes for Valentines Day so I guess that is where he got the idea.  And, of course, he got to eat on the "special" plate.

He did get more than this but the rest wasn't in a heart shape ha!

Walk down memory lane....

1st birthday

2nd birthday

3rd birthday

4th birthday

5th birthday

And today he is SIX!

We went to the playground for a bit...

Our neighbors have a garden and the kids wanted to go see the "scarecrow".

After dinner we took him to do what his favorite thing in the world...fishing.  We walked all the way around the lake and even saw a deer.

Walmart feet....oh summer days!

This has been circulating facebook today from Back to the Future.  When I watched the movie years ago, little did I know it would be on my son's 6th birthday!  Cool!

Not too sure I am ready for this this week.....yikes!
Happy birthday sweet boy!  Love you more than you will ever know!  Can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays together!

Special Package from 1979

I have had a special package packed away for years waiting on the perfect moment to open it.
Today was the day.

My mom's mom, my Granny, gave me this package years ago and the note on it read,

"Dear Amanda,
This won't mean anything to you now-So don't open until 1995.
Love you, Granny!"

You see, it was a Sears Catalog from the year I was born in 1979 and she wanted me to open it the day I turned 16, in 1995.

I don't think I knew about it until years later and she passed away in 1999 when I was in college.  So it has been packed away in my closet and Karis has been dying to open it. I just needed to perfect time to give her the ok to do so.

Since today would have been my Granny's 83rd birthday, I decided today was the perfect day for me and the girls to open it.  It was a momentous occasion!

Excuse the chocolate on Lucy's mouth ha!

The styles from 1979 kept us laughing for an hour as we browsed the worn pages!
Browse the pages of history with me....

It was a special day and I have to say it was way more fun sharing it with my girls.  And I appreciated it much more than I would have at age 16.  We shared lots of laughs and even some tears.

One thing I know for certain...I miss my Granny and am so thankful for her!
