Our 10th Anniversary!

Jay and I's 10 year anniversary is Friday, June 7th, however since we will be traveling on that day we decided to celebrate a few days early while the kids were away at Lolli's house.  We had been wanting to try out a new restaurant called Flight so we went there for dinner.

The weather was beautiful so we sat out on the patio and people watched while we ate.  We saw carriages and trolleys stroll through

We agreed not to do gifts and to save our money.  However he surprised me with something far better than money could buy.  On the night before he proposed he sat down and wrote 3 letters:
  1. He sent a note home with me the night he proposed by sneaking it in my purse.  When I got home I found it and cried lots of tears of happiness that God had given me such a wonderful man!
  2. He also sent me one to my hotel room the morning we married.  Lots more tears of course!
  3. Then, he wrote a 3rd (and final he says) letter for our 10 year anniversary.
So when we sat down to exchange cards, he had two to give me.  The first was a letter (card) he had made for me which was precious but then he gave me a second.  It was the letter he wrote the night before he proposed {now 11 years ago}.  I really had to hold it together since we were sitting at dinner and there were people all around us.  I was biting my tongue, swallowing hard and trying to act normal when our waitress came to refill our drinks.  I was in awe of his thoughtfulness and so thankful he is mine hopefully for many more years!

Flight is a cool restaurant!  They offer "flights" for all courses (wine, appetizers, soup, salads, main course and dessert) which means a small portion (1/3's) of meals so that there are literally 5000 options for dinner.  Three flights together make the size of one entree.

We shared a salad flight and all three were delicious but the one I thought would be my least favorite was both of our favorites...the watermelon balsamic salad...YUM!

I chose 2 flights for my diner instead of 3 because I knew I wouldn't eat 3 of them.  I ordered the chicken and waffles on the left and the sirloin on the right...both were great!

Jay ordered a flight of 3 starting with flounder, then lobster, then the bison ribeye.  He liked all three but the middle wasn't his favorite because it was sweet.

Instead of traditional dessert, we chose to get the fruit and cheese flight for dessert instead.  It was good!  The cheeses were very different but all delicious and the duck sausage was good too.

I didn't get a single good picture of us out of several but that is what you get when someone else is taking the pictures.

After dinner we decided to go walk around near Harbortown and it was beautiful!  We walked around down by the river and drove through looking at some of the houses.  It is such a neat community but not a place we will ever be able to afford ha!

We had talked about going somewhere else to share a dessert but after walking around we were still so full that we just came home and had coffee at home.  I sure do love that we have fun no matter where we are and thankful for the 10 years I have had with him!  Hoping for MANY more!

Life through my iPhone

Last Saturday night after Brayden's Jamboree the kids ended up spending the night with Lolli so Jay and I got to have a break for 24 hours or so.  It was such a short amount of time that we got NOTHING done but relax.  It was just what I needed after all the sickness and having Jay gone for almost 2 weeks.  This momma was worn out!

But Lolli sent us some pics of the kids Sunday morning as they were getting ready for church...

Although Jay and I LOVE our Keurig (seriously one of our favorite things!), we decided to branch out and try our French Press.  This is how they made coffee when Jay was in India so we wanted to try it out.  It turned out REALLY good and strong just like we like it.  The down side is that this only makes 2 cups of coffee.

Sunday our church celebrated 6 official years as a church and Mrs. Phyllis outdid herself once again with the cake!  It has been so neat to see our church grow from the very beginning in October of 2007.  We started in our living room with 8 people and have seen it grow over the 6+ years and see God do some really amazing things!  We are humbled and blessed to be a part of it.
After church Jay and I went on a sushi date...our absolute favorite!
One night this week we got out and took a walk after dinner because it was so pretty and warm.  LOVE these memories with my sweet family!

The kids wanted to sleep together one night this week and we decided what the heck?! Why not?!  They stayed up and giggled for a while and although it was way past bedtime, we decided to let them have their fun.  Sometimes, saying yes when they least expect it is worth the looks on their faces! :)

Lucy brought home a new baby from Lolli's house this past weekend and although it is a "decorative baby" Lolli doesn't tell her no (much) and she gets to play with it anyway.  AND she got to bring it home.   She wouldn't have let us bend the rules but when it comes to her grandkids...the sky is the limit!!!  I am very thankful they love each other so!  Lucy has played with it ALL week!

This baby looks so real it is scary!
She is constantly changing her baby's diapers but took it to a whole 'nother level ha!  She was spraying the diaper with a water bottle so that she could "pretend" her baby was wet.

My favorite news for the week is that my brother Jonathan and his wife Jenna are expecting!!!!!  I actually found out on March 18 (the day the kids got saved) and I know if you read that post, you knew it was an emotional day for us for obvious reasons, but adding this secret to the mix really did drain my tears!  I was sooooo excited to hear their good news.  I can't wait to be an aunt AGAIN!  WOOHOOO glad the news is public!

Belated birthday date night!

First, quick shout-out to my MIL Cindy today...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  So thankful for you and we hope your day is super special!

For Jay's birthday every year, one thing he always requests is to eat at Texas de Brazil.  It is is absolute favorite restaurant but is expensive.  But we signed up for their email fan club and every year they send us a 50% coupon for both of our birthdays and our anniversary.  We usually just end up going once a year.  His birthday was Dec. 18 but we just haven't had a chance to go yet.  So we grabbed a babysitter tonight and headed over there before our coupon expired tonight.  Nothing like last minute huh?!  But it was GREAT as always!

Date night!

While the kids were at Lolli's for the weekend, Jay and I decided to go on a date night since it has been a while.  I was given some gift cards at Christmas so we were thankful to get to use those for our date.  We left about noonish and went to see Les Miserables.  Neither of us had ever seen it before so other than a musical and recognizing some of the songs, we didn't know what to expect.   I will say the acting was great and it was a good movie, although it was either of our preferences on a movie.  It was long and Jay couldn't believe they sang the entire movie.  Yea, I don't think he would go see it again ha!  He is not a musical kind of guy.  I actually like musicals however I am not a fan of history and there was a lot of history in the movie.  But if you like musicals, you will LOVE it!

Then we stopped by Starbucks for a cup of joe!
Then we went to a restaurant we have never been to before.  I had a gift card to Carabba's but the gift card was also one of the sister restaurants such as Bonefish or Flemings.  Jay chose Flemings and it was GOOD!  It was some of the best steak we have ever had however it was really expensive.  It probably won't be in our rotation of restaurants except for special occasions.  But it was GREAT food!  And they gave us a complimentary dessert box when we left...I'll take it!
Then as if the date wasn't good enough, at dinner we got to talking about iPads and how I finally think I might use one.  Up to this point Jay has tried to convince me I would like one but I just wasn't too interested in them.  However I had finally decided that I might like to have one.  This made his day and on the way home, he pulled into Best Buy and said, "Come on I am going to buy you an iPad!!"  I was excited!  How awesome is he?!  And I LOVE the case too!

And I love it!  He got me all set up and I had a ball playing around with it.  SO fun!  I've been missing out!

Date night

Yesterday Jay and I had an anniversary of sorts a day I will never forget.  On December 7, 2002 after I had been shopping with my friend Christie, Jay proposed in his apartment.  It happened to be exactly 6 months since we started dating (June 12, 2002) and it was 6 months until our wedding date that we had already scheduled (June 7, 2003).  It was an OH HAPPY DAY!

My sweet hubs posted this yesterday.  We are blessed indeed!

I just happened to read this today in my study.  Thankful that love is not just emotions, but a choice.  Not all days are easy but we CHOOSE to love each other, even when it's tough.  One of the biggest things I have learned about marriage is that communication and sacrifice are hard, but necessary for a healthy relationship.  And Jesus MUST be the center or else those two things are almost impossible.  We don't have a perfect relationship and are still learning after 10 years.  Hopefully there will be many more!

Since the kids are at Lolli's this weekend, we decided to have a date night tonight to celebrate.  We went to Carrabba's since we haven't been there in years.  It was delicious!
Then we decided to have dessert at a place that neither of us have ever been but have wanted to go for a while now.  The Beauty Shop in midtown used to be a beauty shop that Priscilla Presley used to get her famous do and 10 years ago it was turned into a restaurant.  We had yummy crepes and coffee and we loved the quaint atmosphere.
Love this man!

Hillsong LIVE!

It's been years since Jay and I have been to a concert together and tonight we got to go see Hillsong Live with some good friends!  It was a great night adults only and a wonderful worship experience!

Me and my honey before the concert...

Me and my buddy Amy...

And I got to see several people I knew including one of my favorite people Faith!  We used to teach together and we don't get to see each other very often....soooo good to see her! Bad lighting ugh!

Here are some short videos I took of the concert...awesome!
