Holiday picnic!

Today was ANOTHER national holiday and the kids and all government places were closed so we do what all the locals do…PICNIC!

Our friend Gul (who is our language teacher) and her other students (whom she teaches English) invited us to come along on their group picnic.  It was a great day of sharing and reciprocating language mess-ups.  And what I can I say?!  THEY TRULY KNOW TO PICNIC!!!  We call them pros because they truly are.  It's amazing really and all the parks are incredible.   They don't just picnic for a few hours, but literally ALL day….like 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. or later.

They cook eggplant, tomatoes and peppers on the grill and then tear off the charred part and it leaves a very smoky flavor that is delicious!!!!

At these picnics, you will find ALL ages playing soccer, volleyball, jumping rope or playing dodge ball. It is totally normal to see a group of all adults playing dodgeball or jumping rope, which is new for us ha!  They totally embrace quality time together and I think we have a lot to learn from them!

One of the kids' favorite part of the day was they had horseback riding!

Lucy rode with Gul!

Views from the ferris wheel….

This park is A-MAZ-ING!  Check out this view of the park from the ferris wheel…it almost looks fake.

The kids loved getting to show off their skills on the trampoline!

Great day!
