Obedience Costs

What an awesome day with our church community.  I am so thankful for my church family and how they so much resemble a "family."  This morning our Pastor Brian preached on Joseph and how he is often forgotten when we reflect on the Christmas story.  Joseph had such a humble and selfless heart.  Imagine knowing that the woman you were about to marry was pregnant and you knew it wasn't yours, you want to trust that it wasn't infidelity, people are talking, gossip is everywhere and what to do?!  Legally he had every right to disown her and have her stoned, publicly or privately, to clear his name.  YET, he didn't.  He took the gossip blows, his name being run through the mud, trusting that what the angel told him was true and loving on his pregnant, virgin bride.  Obedience cost him something.

Obedience cost him his reputation, his family, his home and ultimately his life.  Who knows whether his family was supportive of this decision and soon he had to leave his family and his home and flee to Egypt for years.  Obedience cost him.

Obedience cost him everything....and it was worth it. The Lord used his obedience and through him, a King was born that came to save you and I, when we deserved death.  And thankfully, his grace and mercy didn't end there.

Tonight we had a family Christmas worship service at church and it was soooo amazing.  Our worship team is "da bomb."  We are truly blessed to have an incredible worship leader and band.  It is always so God-centered and God glorifying.

Obedience always cost something...and sometimes everything.  It is not always easy nor fun.  What is God asking you to do?  What has it cost you?  Will you choose to obey despite the cost?

HE's waiting.
