Orphaned in Haiti

I am deeply moved as you are at the Earthquake situation in Haiti. I know the pictures we see on tv don't do the situation justice. Jay and I have been glued to Fox News watching the coverage and are just amazed at the devastation. We have been to Kenya and know how poor this area must have been beforehand and now that this has happened, their only form of shelter (maybe even a lean-to) is no longer standing and not an ounce of food or water in sight.

We truly don't have a clue.

But the thing that has brought me to tears numerous times is the thought of children, young or old, that no longer have a parent. Or kids, that they hear under the rubble, that they can't get to to get out. Oh how my heart aches as a parent to think that my child was stuck and I couldn't find them or get to them. Oh how I am counting my blessings today.

Please contribute in any way that you can. Imagine if it was your child you heard crying or your mom you couldn't find.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after the orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
James 1:27

Haitian Children and Families Devastated by Massive Earthquake

Dear James and Amanda,

The catastrophic earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday has resulted in unfathomable chaos and devastation for hundreds of thousands of children and families.

Compassion sponsors and donors serve more than 65,000 children in Haiti. At least a third of them live in the areas that were hardest hit.
I am asking you to please send a generous gift today to help these precious children and their families.

We are working rapidly to assess the situation and determine the full extent of damage:
  • Sadly, we anticipate there will be many deaths.
  • We anticipate thousands of children and families will have lost everything.
  • We anticipate many of our church-based child development centers will have been destroyed.
Without a doubt, the children we serve in Haiti are in shockand face immediate needs for food, water, medical care, shelter and counseling. We have teams prepared to respond, and we are deeply committed to helping each child.

We need your donation today. Please reach out in the name of Jesus to bring relief, comfort, love and restoration to precious children and families whose lives have been devastated by this crisis.

Thank you for caring,
Mark Hanlon
