Karis and Brayden participated locally in their first triathlon called the "Mighty Guy Little Tri" and they were pumped about it. It was for kids ages 2-8 and promoted being active and having fun. Lucy chose to watch this time but I am sure she will want to do it next year after watching all the fun this year.
The kids competed in heats by age. Therefore, they each competed against kids their own age which made it more "fair." My kids have that competitive edge in them (ahem...wonder where they get that from?!) and wanted to win, especially Brayden. He was extremely driven and focused...he does NOT like to lose (to a fault sometimes). He gets it honest.
They had lots of activities for the kids to participate in when they weren't racing.
Jay and his pastor friend Wade, his kids also competed and the race was held at his church.
Helmet on and ready to race!
5 year olds...ready, set, GO!
B on the left....
And that is him crossing the finish line coming in SECOND out of about 40-50 in his age group! Go Brayden!
Karis' age group, 7 year olds, lining up to race...
Brayden stood at the bike station holding Karis bike to have it ready for her when she got there....
Karis did great too...she says she came in FOURTH but I am not too sure I was too far away to see the finish line.
For the "swim" section of the triathlon, they had a huge firetruck spraying water for the kids to run through. Since Lucy didn't race and it was H-O-T Karis took Lucy in the water so she could cool off.
So proud of them for their participation and hard work. I do love that they are learning to be active at a young age! We will definitely do it again next year!
