Karis' first surgery

Karis has had a sore toe for about 6 months and it is very sensitive to touch.  We went to the doc back in the summer and they weren't sure what was wrong with it but gave her an antibiotic to relieve the pain.  The infection went away but the soreness has lingered.  So we decided to take her to the podiatrist to get it checked out.  They did an x-ray and we found something we definitely weren't expecting.  He said based on the x-ray, she had a bone spur (growth) that was sticking up and affecting her toenail.  He said this is common in growing kiddos.  You can see where he drew on the x-ray what it should look like but her whole toe/toenail has been affected.

He told her she would need surgery and he had scheduled it for 2 days later and she was immediately scared to death, started crying and had a really hard time with it.  So we took her to lunch, her choice.  She chose Kyoto, her favorite!

We went in two days later for her surgery and she was sooooo nervous but did great!

She had quite the accessories ha!

Lolli came to visit and brought her a balloon.  She was glad to see her!

Time to roll her down for surgery...she was so nervous because we couldn't go down there with her.

When they were prepping her for the OR they gave her a hat that was quite lovely....

 Nervous habits...

Then this sweet nurse gave her one of her own personal hats...much better and so sweet of her!

And off she goes...rip a momma's heart out!

Her surgery went great only took 20-30 minute surgery time.  We were leaving the hospital within 5 hours.  She got to ride out in style!

Since we will be out of town this next week and can't see the doc as often as he wants her to, he offered to meet us at the office on Christmas Day and gave us his cell number.  WOW we were really impressed and thankful!  Hopefully she will be on the mend quickly!
