Our weekend

One of the pieces of advice my matron of honor Amber gave me before Jay and I got married was to buy and use neutral decorations in my home that way you can change it up as much as you want.  Decorations are easy to change and furniture not so much.  So that is what I did.  Most of the decorations in my home are browns and cremes so I have loved having colors on my walls.  I change paint often because it is one of the cheapest ways (maybe not the easiest but I like to paint) to change up a room.

However, I have recently come to the conclusion I have TOO many colors in my house and most of them don't go together anymore (due to changing things up one room at a time).  So I am trying to change up the colors and neutralize the colors I don't like so much anymore.

Exhibit A
I love the stripes and wanted to keep them but this green color was a color I picked out 6 years ago when we moved in and I am tired of it.  So Friday afternoon/night I painted this room and went more neutral.

I haven't taken a pic of the final product but here you can see the difference.  The middle strip was old paint and the others are the newer paint.

Friday night Karis ended up spending the night with Mari-Morgan and Brayden spent the night with Ethan/Eli.  No it was not planned but us but worked out in our favor.  So Lucy and I got to go on  a date with our favorite guy, daddy.  We went to Outback and Lucy was such a sweetheart.  We loved having that special time with her!

Saturday morning I ended up painting our entry way too because it was that same green color I am tired of.    I had a REALLY cute helper.  :)

We had one of our favorite breakfasts waffles and sausage.  And of course Lucy had to have her purse with her at all times (her FAV thing these days).

Saturday afternoon while Lucy was napping I decided to paint my den too.  I have hopes/plans to do some more painting/remodeling too but my house is suffering so I must do some catch up first!

Sunday after church we met up with our friends Matt and Megan (and Gideon and Charlotte who is still in the oven) to eat lunch and see their new house.  We love them and were so glad to get to spend time with them!

Happy 3rd Birthday Landon!

Today we celebrated Landon's 3rd birthday (although tomorrow is his real birthday).

The "big kid" crew prior to opening gifts....

Landon had lots of helpers....

Landon LOVED his guitar and of course everyone else wanted to see it.  You can see here below he wasn't a fan of that haha!

He played it ALL day and it's loud.  His mom probably was not very happy with me for sending that home haha!

But he loved it.  And that sweet smile made me happy.  :)

Then we had cupcakes and sang happy bday to him.  He just wanted to eat his cupcake haha!

Here he was saying, "All done. MORE?!?!"

Happy 3rd birthday Landon!  We love you!

DIY Jewelry holder

Ok this is the last of my craft posts for now although I have a few more projects I will be working on soon. I must take a break my house is needing some attention!  I saw one similar to this on Pinterest and was able to reinvent in my own way for, get this....ZERO bucks.  FREE!  I had this old gold frame in the attic and the wire was some leftover from something Jay had done.  I used key rings and (sorry don't know the official name of them) those hooks that you can open up (for like note cards) to hang my necklaces and bracelets on and it turned out pretty neat!

Crafting is fun (especially when it is super cheap or even FREE!)...have you caught the crafting bug yet?

Trash to Treasure

This is something else I found at the thrift store last weekend and I had a vision with this piece of trash.  I didn't take a before picture unfortunately but you can envision this beauty in a gold scratched plastic frame...yuck.  It was bad.  But I painted this background pic black, the frame black and then just covered it with burlap and hot glued my painted red "L" to the center of it.  Easy peasy...rags to riches...trash to treasure!

My inspiration for the project...

Here is the pic I found at the thrift store....

And I didn't even realize until right now as I am posting this that the random frame that I found at the thrift store is the EXACT one as in my inspiration piece!  Cool!

8 dollars total

I was at the thrift store the other day and found these gems for $3.99 a piece!  They are probably $40 baskets easy and I got them for a steal!  I didn't necessarily like the color and it doesn't really match anything I have so I decided to paint them black.

I did two coats, the one on the left had 2 while the one on the right only had one.

Finished product (I took these at night and lighting was really bad)...

Love a good deal!

My cleaning buddies

My buddies are growing up fast and it seems I have blinked my eyes and they are all grown up...no more "babies" anymore!  :(  And the ones I used to call my babies (Lucy, Axton, Landon) are now about to start turning 3 (starting with Landon on Saturday).

The weather has been warm again this week especially in the afternoons although this afternoon it got a little colder.  We have enjoyed some time outside...

This little beauty can't seem to stay out of her sisters's makeup.  She looks like a really bad clown haha!

Everett continues to go for the vacuum cleaner this week.  Future cleaner???

And this week Hazel got another top tooth and started crawling!!!  Look at that teethy grin!

And Hazel was interested in the broom...looks like I have some cleaning buddies on my hands!

Why is it that our kids want to clean when they don't have to, but when they have to, they don't want to! :)

We keep waiting on some snow but not too sure we will be getting any this year!  :(

Curtain rod hanging frames

This is my inspiration and I got it from this website...

I happened to have an old curtain rod that I wasn't using.  I bought the 8X10 frames at Dollar Tree and printed the pics for about $2.  So this cost me less than $5!

This scripture on the left...written on painted insulation that I mentioned in my last craft post.  SOOO many things you could do with this stuff!

The whole thing put together...
